Storytelling Unit - 'Soft'

In one of our lessons we watched a short film by Simon Ellis called, 'Soft'.

'Soft' is a very well written story. I liked how the son ended up fighting the situation rather than the father, as in most stories that involve violence and bullies the father would automatically been known to stand up. It created more of a realistic vulnerability that people have and shows that not everyone is brave, even if they are the bigger person.

After watching this we had to do a 25 word pitch to explain what it was about.
Here's what I came up with,

'A modern drama that follows a timid father and son, and their confrontation with violence.'

I was told that mine could have been a bit longer. I think that I could have added a bit more on what actually happens in the story.

This task helped prepare me on how to do a 25 word pitch for my project idea; which i'm hoping to have by tomorrow.

Storytelling Unit - Intro

In our first lesson at uni we was introduced to our first unit, which was story telling.
I was so happy that it was our first unit as its something I want to pursue into doing. I write my own stories and to venture into how to turn stories into proper scripts really interested me.
I learned so much from the first lesson, on how to create a successful story and what main 'ingredients' are needed.

We were also given our first project, where we have to write a 10 page script on a meeting of two people. We can either do the story as a comedy, drama or thriller.

Before starting on that though we have to come up with an idea and do a 25 word pitch about it.
I roughly had a couple of ideas, but as usual they were too complicated and were something worth thinking for a feature film rather than a short film thats around 10 minutes long.

Hopefully i'll come up with some new ideas, but if not i'll have to find a way of shortening my previous ideas.

Me, Myself and I

Hi everyone, this is my first blog post of many!

We had to do a summer project that would explain a little bit about ourselves, before starting the course.
Me, myself and I, seemed an appropriate name for the video as it's about me.

Hope you enjoy the video and learn something about me!
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about the television industry :)
