Major Project: Pre-Writing

As I decided to write a feature length script in a short amount of time, I wanted to make sure that I correctly went through the pre-writing checklist for my story, so that it would make it easier for me when it came to writing the story.

I came across a website that gave step by step instructions, including what specific points you would need to know about your character, such as their wants, faults and plans. Knowing small points like this would help with setting the beginning, middle and end, making it easier to see your characters journey as well as their goal, but also what their needs are.

What I found interesting about this site is that the person who wrote the post, gave specific examples for each step, making the pre-writing stage a lot easier. For example, the first point is to come up with a concept for the story. For this particular point there were two concept examples given, one that would work for a movie and one that wouldn't be a movie concept.

"Not a movie: 'A lawyer learns that lying is immoral'

A movie: 'An attorney preparing for a big case is cursed and cannot lie for twenty-four hours.'"

By knowing the little parts of your story can make a huge difference for when it comes to writing your script.

My next stage was to look into character profiles in depth.
