Digital News: Voice Over

Illy being our reporter for our museum package, had to record a voice over for most of the story.

We originally was going to have VO for the middle of the story so you would see Illy at the beginning and at the end of the story, however due to Illy not knowing if she was going to make the shoot for her outro, we decided to do VO for the ending as well.

I spoke to Ferg and decided that we would record our VO's with a program called 'Pro Tools'.
Ferg showed me how to use the program, so then when Illy was ready we could start recording.
The program was a little complicated at first, however after using it a couple of times I was able to get the hang of it.

I'm glad we used this program, the sound came out great and there was no white noise in the background, that you normally would get if recording using a camera, etc.

Extras

We had a statement form Mike Whiting that needed to be read out, Illy was going to do it, but after thinking about it we thought it would be nice if a guy read it out instead.

We asked Charlie if he would do it and he said yes. The only difference is we recorded Charlie on the fostex instead of the program, as we didn't have a lot of time on the day to set the program up and the fostex is much quicker to set up.

We now have all our VO's that we needed for our news piece.
