Fiction Adaptation: Graphics 2

I got a reply from one of the guys I contacted on 'Casting Call Pro' to do the special effects animation for my fiction adaptation. Unfortunately due to time, he won't be able to do the animation for me, as he has other jobs, however he did give me a website of where I could find someone to do my effect within the timescale I need it for (about 2 weeks).

The website the guy gave me was 'peopleperhour', I posted up a casting on there and within 30 minutes I had a bunch of replies. The only problem was that people were asking for a lot of money to do the animation.

It didn't help that I didn't know how much the industry normally charge for animations, because if I would have known before I probably would have just found other ways to do the 'venom effect.

I started to think of other ways I could still show the 'venom' travelling through the arm, without getting someone professional to do the graphics.

I could either use makeup or find a way that I could digitally do this on an editing program.

Digital Version

I was able to find a video on youtube on a tutorial where I could show the 'venom traveling' up the arm using After Effects. As I have After Effects I want to try this out, especially when I have a test shoot with my actor and makeup artist.

Here's the guys channel, where I found the video from:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkuR3kvUL-FuaJ7pyocXUTQ

Here is the video on how to create a popping vein look using After Effects:

Makeup Version

For the makeup I thought that maybe I could have the 'venom' pumping up through the tube. To do this I could get a type, connect a pump to the bottom end (so that the actor could manually pump the 'venom' himself) and then use prosthetics to blend the tube into the skin, so that it looks like it is part of his arm.

I'm first going to try the After Effects method and then I will do the makeup on the test shoot I have with the actor and makeup artist. Hopefully by testing both out I can then decide which one will be better and more effective to use.

Work Experience: 'Take Me Out' Runner

I was given a great opportunity to work as a runner, on the ITV show 'Take Me Out'.

I had previously worked on Take Me Out as a stand in last year, so I roughly knew the set and layout of the studios.

Job Role

- Stock up dressing rooms
- Make teas and coffee's for the gallery area every hour, I.e. the producer, director, lighting and sound
- Stock up food in gallery area
- Fill up the tea and coffee station for the crew and girls area

I worked along side Stevie Parker who is the studio runner, and Julia Hardwell, studio resources manager. they both gave me little tasks to do around the studio.

At first it was a bit daunting as there are different corridors to go to certain places, however luckily I was able to quickly learn the routes and was able to get on with my tasks.

When I wasn't needed to do a job, I was on the computer in the studio resources office, and was able to do some blog work.

The most stressful thing about being a runner for me was the tea and coffee runs. I made sure I took a notepad and pen with me, so that I wouldn't forget/mess up orders.

When I did my first tea and coffee run by myself, I got the orders and went to a tea station to make the drinks. While making the drinks, I was filling one cup and forgot to turn the water off, so it ended up overflowing and soaking the whole table, including a bit of production paperwork.
I then dropped two drinks on the floor on the way back to the gallery, from trying to open the door and then I ended up giving someone the wrong drink.

As the day went on there were less orders, it definitely got easier once I knew what I was doing. I even started to remember who had what.

Stevie, Julia, the crew and the girls were very friendly around set and I definitely had a great work experience, even though I messed up a little bit at the beginning. It's certainly a story I will laugh about in the future.

I'm glad that I can officially add my role as a runner to my CV, hopefully I will be able to work on more shows in the future.

Workshop: After Effects

Our year was given the opportunity to have a workshop on After Effects with Simon Howell.

Animation

We first looked into how to create a simple animation.

I changed the colour of the background so that it was a bit more interesting and then I created a mask over the background, so that I could create a feather effect. You can change the feather effect to as little and big you want it around the background. We then had to pick a shape and add it to our background. Simon went through the different transformations there were, so that you could make the shape you had chosen move around the screen.

Here is my video:

In this video I transformed the position of the star so that it looked like it was falling from the top and then bounced to a stop. I also used the scale to make the star gradually grow bigger until the shape stopped moving and I also used the rotation so that the star was spinning around until it had stopped.

For our next little fast Simon then showed us how to create animation with using text instead of a shape. I chose to do the word 'Dracula' and chose 'Desdemona' as a font. Instead of individually changing the position, scale, etc through the transformation bar manually there are other animations that are already created that can be found on the right hand side of the screen.

You go on effects and presets, then animation presets, then on text, then animate in. Underneath animate in showed a variety of different already made animation that you could drag and drop onto the text box.

Here is my video:

We then had to do another piece of text where we created many letters, by duplicating the text. This time I chose the words 'Bram Stoker', to match 'Dracula' from our previous task and chose the font 'Copperplate Gothic light'. Like our previous task we chose an animation from the side bar.

Here is the video:

Green Screen

In our workshop we was able to look into how to change the background of green screen on After Effects.

First we was given footage of someone having an interview on a green screen. We then had to download some images of different backgrounds that we could use over the top.

We first had to click on the green screen footage to make sure it was selected, and then go to the side bar where 'Effect' is and click on 'Keylight'. You then go to the other side bar and click on the 'Eye dropper' icon next to the 'Screen' colour option and click on the green screen part of the footage. Once that's done you can drag your chosen background above the composition of your green screen footage and it should then automatically change the background to the one you have chosen.

In the image below for a different interview I chose an mosaic wall as the background.

As i've used After Effects a little bit before I came to uni, I had only previously used it to create little animations. However after this workshop I didn't realise what other things you could do with this program. It was interesting to learn how to change the background of a green screen, etc. I will definitely use this program more for my fiction adaptation as well as for my digital news project.

Fiction Adaptation: Research 5

In my fiction adaptation right at the end of the film, the guy is fully transformed as a vampire and goes right up to the camera lens. As part of the makeup look I wanted to look into what contact lenses I should use for this scene, as I feel the eyes can be quite important on identifying a paranormal creature.

Here are some different contact lenses that I have found:

'Full eye red sclera'

This full red contact lens reminds me of the contact lenses used in the TV show, 'The Vampire Diaries.' I really like these lenses however, sclera contact lenses in general are quite expensive and I don't know whether I would be able to afford them. I also don't want to end up copying the shows look as I want to create my own vampire look for my short film.

'Full eye black sclera'

These lenses are very similar to the ones used on the TV show, 'Being Human.'  I also like these very much however, full eye contact lenses are quite expensive.  Like the other image I don't want to end up copying the shows vampire eye look, as I want to create a look of my own for my character.

'Itachi Mangekyu'

These contact lenses are different to what I have seen used in films and TV shows. Even though I like these, I'm a bit worried they won't look as realistic if I used them in my short film.

'Thunderbolt'

I like how realistic these contact lenses look,  they also look similar to the contact lenses used in the 'Twilight' movies. I'm a bit unsure whether to use these contact lenses, as I'm not sure if I want to follow the stereotypical vampire red eye look or do something completely different.

'Black'

I noticed that you could get smaller contact lenses that are black, however as my actor has brown/hazel eyes, I don't know whether you would see much difference in the eyes.

Overall by researching into different contact lenses I feel that I have a much better idea on the vampire look, however as I still haven't fully decided, I am going to have a meeting with Helen and see whether the ones I like will be worth using.

Fiction Adaptation: Location

For my short film, I originally wanted to film in a studio, however due to productions currently filming shows at the studios, they will more likely be booked when I need one.

I spoke to Helen and as my film is exterior anyway, she advised to look around the Maidstone studios for a section to film in.

It would be good if I could film outside the Maidstone studios, as I would be on their location as well as in a safer environment.

I did what she said and took a look around the Maidstone Studios and I was able to find a walkway that had a lamppost right next to it, and it definitely fit the vision I had to film.

I need to find out if I can get permission to film by the Maidstone Studios ASAP, if they reply quickly I will then be able to find out whether I would need to find somewhere else to film

Digital News Project: Interview with Michael Baldwin

We arrived at Milton Regis Court Hall a bit earlier than our shoot time. When we got inside we realised that we had forgot the tripod.

Tim offered to go back to Rochester to get his tripod, as it would take too long to go back to the studios to collect a tripod as we didn't have a car.

We tried to look around the room to see if there was a chair of something that we could balance the camera on, however there was nothing that we could find.

Michael said that he had a photography tripod that we could use, as he only lived around the corner we decided to use it.

When we set up the camera and sound we then did the lighting. Luckily one side of Michael was lit up already as there was a window, however the other side of him still needed to be lit up.

I took out the soft box lighting as well as the PAG light, as we thought it was going to be really dark inside the building.

As we only needed a little bit of extra light, we decided to just use the PAG light.

Tim was on camera, Illy was on sound and asked questions and I was holding the PAG light.

We was able to do the interview and set up within 2 hours, which is much better than how our other shoots have turned out.

Here is the paperwork for the shoot:

Overall the day was quite successful even though we was a team member short. Luckily Michael had a tripod to use other we would of had to done the interview hand held, which is not the best way to film an interview. We had a list of equipment that we had already decided to bring days before the shoot, however as it was left down to me to collect most of it. I feel that next time there should be at least two people to collect equipment to make sure that we don't forget any pieces of equipment.

Fiction Adaptation: Auditions

This Wednesday I had auditions for the male lead for my fiction adaptation.
I had posted up castings on 'StarNow' and 'Castingcallpro', and from these websites I got quite a few responses for this role.

I booked out the board room/lecture room 1 for my auditions so that I had my auditions separately from where the base room is.

When it came to the day of having my auditions most of the people that applied couldn't make it to the studios.

So I only had one actor turn up.

Consent form

The auditions went really well even though only one guy turned up. The ones who couldn't make it, I gave the option of sending in a video audition, however none of them ended up getting back to me.
I have already decided who I am going to have to play the lead male role, however I still need someone to play the 'Hooded Stranger'. If I can't find anyone I will use someone from uni to do the role, as you don't really see the face of this character.

Fiction Adaptation: Rose Time Lapse

In my chosen poem there was a part where it says,

'Fragrance and passionless music woven as one;
Warm rain on drooping roses; pattering shows'.

For this part I wanted to have a video of a rose dying. The reason I wanted to use a dying rose was because the main character I have is transforming into a vampire and he has to die to be able to become a vampire.

Here are a some clips I found on youtube:

Rose 1:

This was the first video I found on youtube of a rose dying. I liked how the lighting was really bright, and how the rose had dark gothic colours. The only thing that bothers me about this clip is that you can see the silver pin that was used to hold the rose in position whilst this was filmed.

Rose 2:

While looking on google I came across this website where there were a bunch of different rose videos that were either blooming or dying.

http://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-676900-stock-footage-time-lapse-of-opening-and-dying-jazz-rose-alpha-matte-d.html

Out of all the videos on there I really liked this video as it had two roses that were beside each other, one that was blooming and the other that was dying, which I found was quite controversial. The only problem is, I would have to pay quite a bit of money so that I could use it; so this video isn't my first choice.

Rose 3:

Out of all the videos this is the only rose that is blooming. I came across this video near the end of my search and it really caught my eye. I really like the contrast of the dark background with the bright red rose, it gives an eery and dark feel to it.

Overall I was able to find some great videos on what I was looking for, at this stage i'm still unsure with whether to have a dying rose or a blooming rose. I'm going to have a meeting with Helen to update her on my fiction adaptation and hopefully she will be able to help me decide what rose clip would work best.

Research 4 - Vampires

After changing my concept for my fiction adaptation project, I thought I would do some research into vampires that are on TV. I mainly looked at TV shows that included vampires as characters to see how the makeup was done.

The two TV shows I chose are, 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'Being Human'.

The Vampire Diaries

'The Vampire Diaries' is a popular US TV show that is about a girl who falls for a vampire.

In this show there are two main male characters that are vampires, they are 'Damon' and 'Stefan'.

These vampires look normal until they turn into their 'feeding' form. Their feeding form consists of red eyes, fangs and veins that pop up under the eye area.

This vampire makeup really interested me as it is quite simple, but effective at the same time.

Here is an image of 'Damon' in his vampire form.

I was able to find a video on youtube that shows how the actor Ian Somerhalder transforms into his on screen character 'Damon'. This video shows the materials that were used in the show to create the vampire look, including the contact lenses how they insert the fangs.

Being Human

Another show that has vampires is 'Being Human.' This show I am looking into is the UK version, as this show has been released in the US recently.

This show isn't just based around vampires, it also includes other supernatural beings, such as ghosts and werewolves.

One of the main characters is called 'Hal' and he is a vampire. Like 'The Vampire Diaries' he looks normal until he turns into his 'feeding' form.

Hal's feeding form is slightly different to Damon's, he just has fangs and black eyes.

Here is an image of 'Hal' in his 'feeding' form.

With both shows I've noticed that the most focused part of the vampire look is the eyes. Its the one area that changes in shows/movies that have vampires.

What I noticed with both shows was that the makeup was very simple, but at the same time was able to be quite scary.

By researching into these vampire looks, I now have a much better idea on how I want my vampire to look in my film.

Fiction Adaptation: Graphics

There's a scene in my fiction adaptation where I wanted to show how the vampire bite, has effected the inside of the body, during the guys transformation.

Here is a clip from Twilight: Breaking dawn Part 1. I mainly focused on 1:17 - 1:30 in this video as this part was when it went into inside the characters body to see the inside transformation.

As the graphics look quite complicated to do for a beginner, I have posted up a casting for people who specialise in VFX and CG.

Here are some images from the film, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1, on the type of graphics I want to use for my fiction adaptation.

While i'm waiting for replies on my casting i'm going to look into ways of creating this graphic, just incase I get no responses.

Preparation for Interview with Michael Baldwin

Michael Baldwin is the head chairman for the 'Friends of Milton Regis'. For this interview we wanted to film him inside the Milton Regis Court Hall as it would be relevant to the story. As Sei-Kai is not going to be able to make the shoot on Monday, me, Illy and Tim decided to get together and see how we was going to frame and light the interview.

We decided to get Fergus to help us with how to light the interview.
1. The museum is poorly lit due to having small windows and little lights.
2. Because its a very old if we used lighting such as tungsten, the building wouldn't be able to support that much power.

Here is a diagram of how were going to frame Michael for the interview:

The diagram on the left is a map of the top floor of the building, where we are hoping to interview Michael. The smaller diagram on the right is how we want to frame Michael for the interview.

Fergus said to us that we could use a soft box and pag light for the interview, as they have less wattage than the tungsten lights; he also said that by using a soft box and pag light, it would give much softer look.

After speaking to Fergus, me, Illy and Tim decided that we would test out the lighting a couple of days before our shoot.

When it came to the day of testing the lighting, Sei-Kai and Illy didn't turn up and I had to leave early for a hospital appointment; so we weren't able to test the lighting out.

We have decided that we are going to use the soft box and pag light for the interview, and because we have an extra hour before filming the interview, we have decided to use this extra time to set up the lighting and equipment.

Filming Week 1 - Digital News Project

So far in our first week of filming we have been able to film our studio pieces with our news anchor and our live news piece with the 'Knitting for Charity' group.

We were supposed to film an interview with Mike Whiting, Head of Swale Council, however at last minute he cancelled due to his mum being rushed into hospital.

At the moment we are waiting for a response on when he will be able to film the interview again. As this interview has been pushed back we decided that we would start planning for our shoot on Monday, where we have an interview with the museum trust for our package.

Luckily we have our live news piece filmed, so all we have to do now is focus on our news package about the museum. Due to having an interview pushed back, we are now behind unless we are able  to interview Mike Whiting during filming week 2.

Meeting with Helen - Digital New Project

Helen contacted me, Tim, Illy and Sei-Kai for a emergency meeting.

Helen was very worried at the stage we was at because we should have got some filming done by now, due to getting two stories so early on in the project.

We explained to her the reasons why, 1. during doing this project I had a week of absence due to being in Italy, also I didn't forward contact information to Illy so that she could contact the news stories for information. 2. after having auditions for news reporters, we had to wait for a time that they were free, before setting a filming date with our news stories.

During this meeting we were able to show Helen a schedule of when we will be filming. We discussed with her that we would be filming during the next couple of weeks and will be getting this project done asap, so that we could focus on our other individual projects, that we pushed aside.

Helen gave us a tip that because we are at a crucial stage that to have dates on when you want to get filming done and start editing.

After our meeting we have set that we would film up until 23rd November (taking into consideration that we will film the very last piece of our museum package on 5th December due to going to an event; this footage will be dropped in during editing) and that we would start editing by 24th November.

This meeting was definitely needed for our group, as timing was something I was worried about at the beginning of this project. We seemed to have slowed down and we really needed to get back on track with this project. I really hope that our filming days go to plan and that we will hopefully get everything filmed asap.

Ideas for Fiction Adaptation

After working on my digital news project for so long, I wanted to make a start on my fiction adaptation film and what idea I was going to choose.

Here are some story ideas that I had:

- Soldier dying (from his point of view)
- Nurse watching soldier die (from her point of view)

When we first discussed our ideas to the class at the beginning of the term I was really happy about using the poem to tell a story of a soldier dying from a nurse's point of view.

I decided to have a meeting with Simon, to go through my idea I had. While discussing my idea with him, there was one question he asked, that was 'does it have to be about a soldier.' After the meeting I thought about this question and as I wanted to experiment on my fiction adaptation unit, I decided to scrap the soldier idea and try to come up with something that wasn't telling a story literately about war.

I decided to re-read the poem and see if any other ideas came to my head. I remember that when I first read the poem I remember seeing a paranormal side to it, so I decided to see what kind of paranormal story that I could tell alongside the poem.

There were certain words of the poem that stood out to me that described a transformation of a vampire. I decided that I would use this as my concept for my film.

What will happen in my film is that the guy is waking up from being bitten and throughout the poem I will focus on different aspects of the transformation and then towards the end of the poem he will then have turned into a vampire.

The way I envision this film is to have a midnight blue tone to the footage, like this image:

This image is from a TV show called 'The Vampire Diaries' which is based on vampires.

For my original idea I wanted to use stop motion as a filming technique, however after changing my idea, I decided to not use stop motion, and hopefully use it in a future project.

After coming up with this new idea I had a meeting with Helen and she liked the idea, however one tip she gave me was not to make it look panto like or very gory.

She also said that for this film I would need a good actor, to express pain and fear more and also get a makeup artist to do the vampire makeup.

I took Helen's tips and have put up castings for male actors and makeup artists.

I am now waiting for replies and will be having auditions for actors next week.

Shoot and Meeting - News Anchor

After filming our news anchor parts, we sat down as a group and went through what went wrong and how we can learn from our mistakes from this shoot.

Here were our mistakes:

-       The shoot went 30 minutes over than expected.
-       We had problems with sound and wasn't sure what to do, so we got Fergus to help us out. By getting Fergus we was able to save a lot more time for the shoot.
-       We focused more on the set, rather than other things we needed to have with us, i.e. spare batteries.

We all also felt that we kept getting into each others way, when we should off just stuck to our own roles. We have now officially given our roles to each other, however jobs roles such as sound and lighting might change depending on what we are filming.

Here are our official roles:

Me – Producer and sound
Illy – Assistant producer and auto cue
Sei-Kai – Director and lighting
Tim – Camera operator

Even though we went into each other's roles, we have still all agree to put in input as it may be useful towards the shoot.
Another major thing we noticed was that out organisation and communication for this shoot was very poor. We have taken this as a learning curve and hope not to have this problem again in the future.

One problem we had on the day of shoot, but ended up correcting was the lighting. We started of with two daylight photography lights that Sei-Kai had on either side of the news anchor; this helped lighten up the the news anchor however this created two shadows in the background, so it looked like Ben had three heads. We first moved the lights back and higher, to try and move the shadows down, however there still happened to be a little bit of shadow in the background. Finally we moved the couch forward the camera, so that it wasn't up against the wall and also put the main light on. By doing this all the shadows disappeared and then we could start shooting.

In the future as producer I will make sure that I create a call sheet, schedule for the day, risk assessment and make sure that the reporter used for that shoot has the script a couple of days before the shoot to prepare him/herself.

The call sheet will include: map, location, roles, times of shoot, equipment being used, contact information and extra information. It will be sent to the crew, reporter and whoever we are interviewing that day.

After having this meeting, we decided to go through our set up and camera shots for the knitting for charity live shoot, so that we were more prepared for the shoot.

Here’s a storyboard of what we are hoping to do for Wednesday:

R - Reporter
C - Carole
A - Angela
1x - knitting group member to answer question 1
2x - knitting group member to answer question 2

Even though we had a bad shoot with filming our news anchor pieces, I feel that this was definitely a learning curve. We are nor going to go through every shoot a couple of days before to organise the shots, framing and paperwork for that day.

Knitting for Charity: Extra Information

Carole from the knitting group sent an email to me full of information on 'Yarn Bombing', which is apparently the new craze.

Yarn bombing is a type of graffiti street art that is done over night. It is not only happened in the UK but also all over the world. Here are some images of 'Yarn Bombing' in Vienna:

Earlier this year the NHS asked people to knit blood drops to promote their blood transfusion drive. Thousands of drops were knitted by volunteers, including volunteers from the knitting for charity group. These drops were used to decorate the trees, for advertisement.

It was very nice of Carole to send over some great information on how knitting is used today, however due to only having 2 minutes for our live news piece, we won't be able to include any of this information. Our main focus for our news piece is talking about the knitting group and about the charity they are raising money for.

Fiction Adaptation: Research 3

To find some simpler ideas with stop animation, I decided to look at students who have done stop motion in a different kind of way.

Here is the website where I found these short stop motions from:

http://www.shortoftheweek.com

'Notes on Biology'

http://www.shortoftheweek.com/2012/03/28/notes-on-biology/

In this short film, it is interesting how this person chose to do a drawing version of stop motion. I think it is an interesting concept however it must have taken ages to create the drawings.
Even though this one was very interesting I definitely won't be using drawing within my stop motion.

'Ten Thousand Pictures of You'

http://www.shortoftheweek.com/2009/02/14/ten-thousand-pictures-of-you/

This one has to be my favourite short film out of the three on this post. The film was taken in stills which is something I have considered doing for my film. Its clever how they've told a story about a photographer and that they have decided to do a film in stills. There also is a story throughout this film which made it even more interesting. This film was done in a comical way by using a variety of sound effects, also the actors used were great in this film.

'Game Over'

http://www.shortoftheweek.com/2007/03/22/game-over/

This short film was similar to the one above, on how it used still images to create this animation, however it was based on food versions of 80's arcade games, such as: Pac-man, space invaders, etc.
It was an interesting concept however I found it to be boring halfway. The sound effects used were good but there was not really a story throughout this film.

Overall by looking at these short stop motion films previous student have done, have definitely inspired me on some ways of having stop motion within my fiction adaptation film.

First draft - Fiction Adaptation

Here is my first draft of my fiction adaptation script:

Now that I have a rough first draft, I can now show this to one of my tutors to get some feedback. I can also do a storyboard to see if the shots I want for each shot will work well after each other or whether I would need to add in different shots.

Script - First Draft 'Kent Life News'

Here's our first draft of our 'Kent Life News' script:

After writing up our script, we wanted to show Helen so that we could get a second opinion.

She said that the pats where our reporters go more into depth with the museum and the knitting for charity stories are great however we need to re-word, the intro parts to the stories as she feels that were giving away too much information about the stories and instead tease them.

We are now going to work more on the script and see if we can make these changes as soon as possible as we have our shoot dates coming up very soon.

Research - OSNA Machine

Before we had our interview with the knitting for charity group, I wanted to research more about the OSNA machine, so that we had the correct information for the script.

Here is a booklet that I found online about the machine:

This booklet had some great information, including description about the machine.

As well as this booklet, Angela from the knitting group also gave me some leaflets that contained some more information.

These leaflets practically had the same information about the OSNA machine, they also included ext a information about breast cancer patients and how the OSNA machine will benefit them.

Overall I feel that here is some good information on the machine, and I think we could use some of this information in our script, it just depends on the how long we will have for this story.

Digital News Project: News Anchor Set

Now that we have our news anchor, as a group we decided to discuss whether we was going to use a green screen for the news anchor parts or just add decoration to the background.

As were a community channel we decided that our news anchor will be sitting on a couch, but as the couch is big there will be a lot of space to fill.

I came up with an idea to maybe have a couple of pillows next to him and the pillow on the front to have our logo on it. I discussed this with the group and they seemed to like the idea, Illy added that we could have a small table on the side the news anchor is on and have a mug on there that also has our logo on it.

We briefed our ideas to Helen and she said that it fits our channel by using a sofa and by adding the details of our logo was interesting. However she mentioned that we might not even need to have a green screen as we have such as casual channel, that to have the background in the studio might look odd.

Our group was a bit 50/50 with the idea, I didn't mind not using the green screen as I hadn't had much experience with it, and knowing how long it takes to set up, etc, it might be easier just to have some decoration in the background, especially if we was planning to create that cosy feel to our news anchor pieces.

As we hadn't decided what to do our group asked Fergus if he could give us a small lesson with the green screen after our workshop that day, however by the time we finished our lesson, Fergus had to go.

As we have only a couple of days til we film with our news anchor we decided to not use the green screen for our shoot on Monday. Not only do we have much experience with it, if we didn't do it right while our news anchor was there, we would then have to call him in again.

All we have to do now is get our logo printed on a pillow and mug by Monday as well as figure out what were going to have in the background, i.e. either a notice board or a poster.

Meeting with Knitting for Charity Group

We was able to have to meet up with the knitting group to get some more information on what they do as well as the charity they are supporting at the moment.

For this meeting I  took out a DSLR camera and zoom kit, so that we could get some test shots on location (as we will be using this location for our news piece).

Here are some photos of the area the group stay in, in the library.

We arrived at the library an hour early, however we used this time to sit down in a cafe and make sure we had all the questions we needed to ask as well as what we would have to look for in the library, i.e. where the sockets are, the lighting, etc.

All the women were very welcoming and very chatty, we was able to get our questions answered as well as free tea and biscuits. We first gave out introduction to them, explaining who we are, and how and why we wanted to use this charity group as a story. We then chatted to the women asking them questions about the charity as well as the group they are in.

Here my meeting notes:

Overall I think we was able to get a lot of information from the women. Hopefully we have enough information to use for our script.
