Digital News Project: News Anchor Set

Now that we have our news anchor, as a group we decided to discuss whether we was going to use a green screen for the news anchor parts or just add decoration to the background.

As were a community channel we decided that our news anchor will be sitting on a couch, but as the couch is big there will be a lot of space to fill.

I came up with an idea to maybe have a couple of pillows next to him and the pillow on the front to have our logo on it. I discussed this with the group and they seemed to like the idea, Illy added that we could have a small table on the side the news anchor is on and have a mug on there that also has our logo on it.

We briefed our ideas to Helen and she said that it fits our channel by using a sofa and by adding the details of our logo was interesting. However she mentioned that we might not even need to have a green screen as we have such as casual channel, that to have the background in the studio might look odd.

Our group was a bit 50/50 with the idea, I didn't mind not using the green screen as I hadn't had much experience with it, and knowing how long it takes to set up, etc, it might be easier just to have some decoration in the background, especially if we was planning to create that cosy feel to our news anchor pieces.

As we hadn't decided what to do our group asked Fergus if he could give us a small lesson with the green screen after our workshop that day, however by the time we finished our lesson, Fergus had to go.

As we have only a couple of days til we film with our news anchor we decided to not use the green screen for our shoot on Monday. Not only do we have much experience with it, if we didn't do it right while our news anchor was there, we would then have to call him in again.

All we have to do now is get our logo printed on a pillow and mug by Monday as well as figure out what were going to have in the background, i.e. either a notice board or a poster.
